Digital Markers for Cardiovascular Health

How do you care for your health, let’s say your cardiovascular health?

Besides regular physical exercise, a heart-healthy diet, and stress management, do you also use wearables to monitor your heart-related digital markers?

If so, what wearables do you use, and what markers do you track?

Here is an infographic on commonly measured wearable tech-based markers that might provide insight into your cardiovascular health.

In a recent cross-sectional study based on a sample of 9303 US adults, 18% with established cardiovascular disease (CVD) and 26% at risk for CVD reported using wearable devices compared with 29% of the general population (Source).

Key reasons hindering adoption
1.      Older age, lower educational levels, and lower household income are associated with significantly lower odds of wearable device use – health equity issues must be addressed
2.      Long-term recording fatigue
3.      Possible anxiety caused by constant monitoring of parameters
4.      Possibility of false positives
5.      Accuracy of the metrics

Nevertheless, monitoring these parameters, even for the short term, may provide better insights to your physician.

Leave your thoughts below! What wearables do you use, and what markers do you track?
